I came across a listing for one of Katherine Ellis’s gigs via Facebook and attended one of her very intimate performances in the back room of Jazz After Dark in Soho, on January 22, 2019. Such a treat! For almost three hours she performed a long series of hits of the last 100 years including the iconic club anthem “When You Touch Me” which she recorded with the Freemasons (see video below). I captured a few excerpts of this memorable concert. Then we stayed in touch and reconnected recently for an informal chat about the 2020 lockdown situation. Besides being an amazing artist with one of the widest vocal ranges I’ve ever encountered (listen to the last note of her performance of Gravity’s soundtrack in Vienna!), Katherine is also a very generous person. I appreciate her trust in CMF Radio. We’ve playlisted a few of her songs in our programmes: I Need U (with Samuele Sartini), Live Again (with My Digital Enemy) and When You Touch Me (with The Freemasons).
