I first met Tony O’Malley at the Bulls Head in Barnes (London, UK) in February 2019 to live stream one of his solo performances. We got together again a few weeks later on the occasion of Kokomo’s sold out concert at The Half Moon in Putney (see footage below). For those of you who don’t know Tony, he’s the co-founder of British soul pioneers Kokomo and was a member of 10cc in the late 1970s, among many other high profile artistic collaborations. He’s had a very successful solo career since 1978, a regular at the Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in Soho, where he recorded his first solo album “Naked Flame” in 1994. These days, you can see him playing very often at the iconic 606 Club in Chelsea, among many other venues in the UK and around the world. Tony also spent a few years in my home country, Belgium, where he’s become a very popular artist on the jazz / soul circuit. I’m so jealous of his voice (check out his station call), not even speaking of his piano skills. A Legend!
