Remember, it wasn’t that long ago, in March 2020. Suddenly, the whole world stopped.
We were all asked to stay home to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
The term “lockdown” unexpectedly entered our vocabulary. We were forced to develop original activities, adapted to this exceptional situation, which we hoped would only last a few weeks… From Zoom happy hours to live streams, our social and cultural life was confined to digital interactions.
Those circumstances led me to launch my own web radio, CMF Radio (for Call Me Fred Radio), on which I invited many friends from the music world, encountered during my activities as a producer / promoter.
We programmed a series of podcasts, dedicated to different musical trends: synthwave, with Stu Mc Laren from the label Outland Records, clubbing with the diva Katherine Ellis, the indie scene with Fabrice Boods Baudour, the great history of rock from the 60s to nowadays with Alain Pire, memories of the British Soul epic with Tony O’Malley as well as a series of one-off programs of which I will retain in particular a long interview with Lou Deprijck as well as the launch of Antoine Goudeseune’s album.
I also developed a promo section dedicated to my favorite artists. And one Sunday afternoon, between two cups of coffee, I had fun recording 134 jingles (in FR), which you can download for free for your own web radio.
When life went back to its more or less normal course, at the end of 2021, I put an end to the 24/7 broadcast of the radio stream while continuing to develop the website, on which I now publish song stories and other thematic articles. Thousands of you are now visiting this website on a daily basis.
I plan to devote a substantial part of my time to this project. I also plan to resume the radio stream at the end of 2023.
If you would like to contribute to CMF Radio in any way, please feel free to contact me.
