The song stayed at the top of the chart for four weeks. "Hotline Bling" became one of Drake's biggest hits, and has been certified Platinum Records seven times.

The song "Hotline Bling" was inspired by DJ Casper's hit single "Cha Cha Slide." Drake said that when he first heard "Cha Cha Slide," he immediately thought of a song he could write about the girls he met on phone chat lines as a teenager. Drake then recorded the song with producer Nineteen85.
