- He received the Grand Prix de la Chanson at the Cannes Film Festival in 1984.

- "Le Poinçonneur des Lilas" is a French song written, composed and performed by Serge Gainsbourg, recorded in June 1958 and published in 1958 on the album Du chant à la une !
- It appears on a single of four tracks, released in September 1958. This song is his first success.
- A scopitone was made by Jean Bacqué produced by Pathé and showing Gainsbourg among others in the Paris subway, at the Porte des Lilas station.
- In 1958, the Frères Jacques were the first to record a cover version. The song was recorded on June 23 and 24, shortly after the recording of the original, and was released on the Philips EP 432.267.
- In March 1959, the version of Hugues Aufray is released, although he is the first to want to sing it but will have to wait six months to get the authorization. It is with this cover that he wins the amateur contest of Europe 1.
- In 1959, after a tour of the Frères Jacques in Israel, the song was so successful that it was adapted into Hebrew by Haifa Hefer (in) חיים חפר) as a patriotic song, with martial lyrics, entitled Sayarim ("scouts", "border patrols").
