The protagonist feels homesick for a place and person that doesn't exist anymore. He misses someone that he is still learning to miss, as if that person has been replaced by something else. He holds onto memories of that person through home videos and pictures, but knows that he can never truly reach them again. The protagonist also longs for conversations that he used to avoid and misses the sound of the person's voice. He feels like that person has been replaced by a tattoo of their name. Despite knowing that he can never fully let go, he continues to chase the shadows of that person, holding onto their memories. The protagonist says goodbye but still sees the person in their silhouette, and all that remains is a shadow of that person. He will continue to chase those shadows.
