New York Dolls - Short Biography

- Formed in New York in 1971, the New York Dolls were one of the first punk rock bands.
- They released two albums, New York Dolls (1973) and Too Much Too Soon (1974), which achieved cult status.
- The original lineup included singer David Johansen, guitarists Johnny Thunders and Sylvian Sylvian, bassist Arthur Kane and drummer Jerry Nolan.
- On stage, they wore androgynous clothing such as high heels, eccentric hats, satin, makeup, spandex and dresses.
- In 1974, Nolan referred to the group as the "Dead End Kids of today."
