The song Edge of Seventeen by Stevie Nicks was written in 1981, after the death of John Lennon. Nicks was in the studio recording her second solo album, Bella Donna, when she heard the news of Lennon's death. She was deeply affected by the tragedy and immediately began writing the song. Edge of Seventeen is a song about loss and grief, but Nicks wrote it so that it would also be a tribute to Lennon and his influence on her music. The song was released as a single in November 1981 and reached #11 on the Billboard Hot 100.
