Funkadelic - Short Biography

- Funkadelic is an American funk rock band formed in Plainfield, New Jersey in 1968.
- Led by George Clinton, Funkadelic and its sister band Parliament pioneered the funk music culture of the 1970s.
- Originally formed as a backing band for Clinton's vocal group, Parliaments, Funkadelic eventually moved toward a heavier, more psychedelic sound.
- Funkadelic released acclaimed albums such as Maggot Brain (1971) and One Nation Under a Groove (1978).
- The group was active until 1982.
