Incognito - Short Biography

- Incognito is a British acid jazz band, founded in 1979.
- It is led by Jean-Paul "Bluey" Maunick and includes Linda Muriel, Jocelyn Brown, Maysa Leak, Tony Momrelle, Imaani, Vanessa Haynes, Mo Brandis, Natalie Williams, Carleen Anderson, Pamela (PY) Anderson, Kelli Sae and Joy Malcolm.
- Their first album, Jazz Funk, was released in 1981.
- They had intermittent success in the UK Singles Chart, with their big hit in 1991, a cover of the Ronnie Laws song "Always There".
- Contributed to the Red Hot Organization's Stolen Moments albums: Red Hot + Cool and Red Hot + Rio
- Their song "Need to Know" is the theme song for the progressive radio and television news program Democracy Now!
- They have reissued a 106-track retrospective of their first album, Jazz Funk, to celebrate their 40th anniversary.
- Honored as part of Universal Music Recording's "Black Story" series, as part of Black History Month in the UK.
