Robert Sylvester Kelly, better known as R. Kelly, is an American musician, convicted felon, racketeer and sex offender. He has sold over 75 million records worldwide and has won three Grammys for his song "I Believe I Can Fly". He was also nominated for his song "You Are Not Alone," recorded by Michael Jackson. Although critics have dubbed him the "King of Rhythm and Blues" and he has called himself the "Pied Piper of Rhythm and Blues," Kelly has a controversial past, marked by numerous allegations of abuse and sexual misconduct.

"Gotham City" is a hit R&B song by American singer R. Kelly, inspired by the fictional city of the same name in the Batman comics. The song was featured on the soundtrack of the movie "Batman & Robin" and was a big hit, reaching number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs in the United States. In Europe, the song also did well, reaching the top 10 in several countries, including Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. The video, directed by Hype Williams, features R. Kelly in a dark urban landscape reminiscent of Gotham, with scenes from the movie. A remixed version of the song was later released featuring rapper Strings, also in a video directed by Hype Williams.
