Dimmu Borgir is a Norwegian black metal band formed in 1993. The band’s name translates to “dark cities” or “dark castles,” and they are known for their dark, symphonic soundscapes. They have released ten studio albums, with their most recent being “Eonian” in 2018. Some of their most notable tracks include “Puritania,” “Progenies of the Great Apocalypse,” and “Gateways.” The band has gone through several lineup changes over the years, but Shagrath (vocals) and Silenoz (guitar) have been consistent members since the beginning. They have been praised for their use of orchestral elements in their music, as well as their intricate guitar work and intense live performances. Although controversial at times, Dimmu Borgir has amassed a loyal following in the metal community and remains one of the most influential black metal bands to this day.
