Blind Guardian is a German power-metal band formed in 1984, originally known as Lucifer’s Heritage. The band consists of lead vocalist and lyricist, Hansi Kürsch, guitarist André Olbrich, drummer Frederik Ehmke, and keyboardist Marcus Siepen. Their music combines heavy metal with progressive and symphonic elements, often inspired by fantasy and mythology, and their lyrics often focus on stories and characters from literature and games. Blind Guardian released their debut album Battalions of Fear in 1988, followed by successful albums such as Imaginations from the Other Side and Nightfall in Middle-Earth. They have become one of the most influential and respected bands in the power-metal genre, with their epic and melodic sound inspiring countless other bands over the years. Blind Guardian continues to tour and record, with their latest album, Legacy of the Dark Lands, released in 2019.
