Coldplay is a British rock band formed in London in 1996. The band consists of lead vocalist and pianist Chris Martin, lead guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, and drummer Will Champion. Coldplay’s debut album, Parachutes, was released in 2000 and propelled them to mainstream success with hits such as “Yellow” and “Trouble”. Their subsequent albums, including A Rush of Blood to the Head and X&Y, solidified their status as one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed bands of the 2000s. Coldplay’s music has been characterized by their emotive songwriting, soaring melodies, and incorporation of electronic soundscapes. They have won numerous awards including seven Grammy Awards and have sold over 100 million records worldwide. Coldplay continues to be an immensely popular and influential band, releasing their most recent album, Everyday Life, in 2019.
