Danzig is an American heavy metal band formed in 1987 by singer/songwriter Glenn Danzig. The original lineup consisted of Glenn Danzig on vocals, John Christ on lead guitar, Eerie Von on bass, and Chuck Biscuits on drums. They released their self-titled debut album in 1988, which featured the hit single “Mother”. The band went on to release several successful albums throughout the 1990s, including “Danzig II: Lucifuge” and “Danzig III: How the Gods Kill”. In 1995, Danzig left his record label, Def American, to start his own label, Evilive Records. The band has gone through several lineup changes over the years, with Danzig serving as the only constant member. They continue to tour and record to this day, with their most recent album, “Black Laden Crown”, released in 2017. Danzig’s music has been influential in the development of the heavy metal, punk, and gothic rock genres, and Glenn Danzig is widely regarded as a seminal figure in the world of underground music.
