Depeche Mode formed in Basildon, England in 1980, with original members Dave Gahan, Martin Gore, Andy Fletcher, and Vince Clarke. They released their debut album, “Speak and Spell,” in 1981 and quickly gained popularity with their unique blend of electronic music and dark lyrics. In 1982, Clarke left the band and was replaced by Alan Wilder. Throughout the 80s and 90s, Depeche Mode continued to release successful albums and singles, including “Personal Jesus” and “Enjoy the Silence.” In 1995, Wilder left the band and they continued as a trio. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2020 and continue to tour and release new music, with their latest album “Spirit” released in 2017. Depeche Mode is known for their iconic sound and influence on the electronic music genre.
