INXS were an Australian rock band formed in 1977, consisting of Andrew Farriss, Jon Farriss, Tim Farriss, Kirk Pengilly, Garry Gary Beers, and Michael Hutchence. They gained international success in the 1980s and early 1990s with hits such as “Need You Tonight” and “Never Tear Us Apart”. Hutchence’s charismatic stage presence and songwriting skills fueled their success until his death in 1997. The remaining members continued to tour and record, but never regained their previous level of success. INXS were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2001 and have sold over 50 million records worldwide. Their music has continued to influence contemporary artists nearly two decades after their last album release.
