Joan Jett, born Joan Marie Larkin in Pennsylvania in 1958, is an American rock singer, songwriter and guitarist who rose to fame in the 1970s as a member of the band The Runaways. After the band disbanded, Jett went on to launch a successful solo career, releasing hit songs such as “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll” and “Bad Reputation.” Jett is known for her signature sound, which has been described as a mix of hard rock, punk, and glam.
