Joan Sebastian was born in 1951 in Juliantla, Guerrero, Mexico. He began his music career in the 1970s composing songs for other artists before releasing his own albums. He was known for his distinctive voice and fusion of genres including banda, ranchera, and pop. Sebastian won multiple awards including five Latin Grammy awards and was inducted into the Billboard Latin Music Hall of Fame in 2013. He was also known for his philanthropic efforts, including creating a foundation to support cancer research.
