José Feliciano was born in Lares, Puerto Rico in 1945. Blind from birth, he began playing the guitar at a young age, and after moving to New York as a teenager, he quickly gained recognition for his musical talents. Feliciano’s breakthrough came in 1968 with the release of his cover of The Doors’ “Light My Fire,” which became a hit and earned him a Grammy Award. Over the years, he continued to release successful albums and singles, and his distinctive voice and guitar playing made him a beloved icon in the music world. Feliciano also had a successful career as a songwriter, and was inducted into the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2013. He remains a prolific artist, and continues to tour and record to this day.
