Henri Matisse, a French painter, was born in 1869. He started working in law and later discovered his passion for painting. Being one of the leading artists of the 20th century, he is famous for his use of vibrant colors and bold patterns. Matisse improvised the Fauvism movement along with André Derain. His work was influenced by the time he spent in Morocco and his encounter with Islamic art. He had an extensive collection of African art which hugely influenced his art style. His notable works include “The Red Studio,” “The Dance,” and “The Joy of Life.” Matisse died in 1954 in Nice, France, leaving behind a great legacy in the art world.
