Necrophagist was a German technical death metal band formed in 1992. The band was known for their complex and intricate guitar riffs played by founder and lead guitarist Muhammed Suiçmez. Their first album, “Onset of Putrefaction” was released in 1999, and they gained a cult following in the death metal community. Their second album, “Epitaph” was released in 2004 and was praised for its technicality and musicianship. Despite widespread critical acclaim, Necrophagist struggled to maintain a stable lineup, with Suiçmez being the only constant member. The band went on hiatus in 2010, and Suiçmez has since focused on his solo project. Necrophagist’s legacy endures as a pioneering force in technical death metal, and their influence can be heard in many modern metal bands.
