Nirvana was an American grunge band formed in 1987. The band consisted of Kurt Cobain on lead vocals and guitar, Krist Novoselic on bass, and Dave Grohl on drums. They achieved worldwide success with their second album, Nevermind, which was released in 1991. The album’s lead single, “Smells Like Teen Spirit”, became an anthem for the youth and helped bring alternative rock into the mainstream. Despite their success, Nirvana was plagued by Cobain’s drug addiction and mental health issues, which ultimately led to his suicide in 1994. Following his death, the remaining members disbanded and pursued their own projects. Nirvana’s legacy has had a lasting impact on music and culture and they are widely regarded as one of the most influential bands of all time.
