Porcupine Tree was a British progressive rock band formed in Hemel Hempstead in 1987 by Steven Wilson. They released their first album, “On the Sunday of Life,” in 1991 and went on to gain a cult following with their experimental style that blended elements of classic rock with psychedelia, metal, and ambient music. Over the course of their career, Porcupine Tree released ten studio albums, including the critically acclaimed “Fear of a Blank Planet” in 2007. Despite never achieving mainstream success, the band’s influence on the progressive rock genre is undeniable, and they are considered pioneers in the field of progressive metal. In 2010, the band announced an indefinite hiatus, and Wilson has since pursued a successful solo career. Despite their disbandment, Porcupine Tree remains an influential and beloved presence in the world of progressive rock.
