Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, best known as Shakira, was born in Colombia in 1977. At age 13, she released her first album, Magia, and later gained international success with her 2001 album Laundry Service, featuring hits like “Whenever, Wherever.” In 2006, she collaborated with Wyclef Jean on the song “Hips Don’t Lie,” which became a massive hit. Shakira has continued to release successful albums and singles, and in addition to her music career, she has been involved in various philanthropic endeavors, including founding the Pies Descalzos Foundation to help impoverished children in Colombia. Her unique blend of Latin, pop, and rock music has earned her numerous awards and accolades, and she remains one of the most iconic pop stars of her generation.
