Smokie, formed in Bradford, England in 1965, started as a country rock band before turning to mainstream pop music. They achieved international success in the mid-1970s, with hits such as “Living Next Door to Alice,” “Don’t Play Your Rock ‘n’ Roll to Me,” and “If You Think You Know How to Love Me.” The band’s original lineup consisted of Chris Norman on lead vocals and guitar, Alan Silson on guitar and vocals, Terry Uttley on bass guitar and vocals, and Ron Kelly on drums. Over the years, the band saw various lineup changes and released numerous albums, eventually disbanding in the early 1990s before reuniting in the late 1990s. Today, Smokie continues to tour and perform with a lineup that includes some of the original members.
