Formed in Arlington, Virginia in 1997, SOJA (short for Soldiers of Jah Army) is an American reggae band known for their conscious lyrics and high-energy live performances. The band consists of lead vocalist Jacob Hemphill, guitarist/vocalist Bobby Lee, bassist Ryan Berty, keyboardist Patrick O’Shea, drummer Rafael Rodriguez, percussionist Kenneth Brownell, and horn players Hellman Escorcia and Trevor Young. Over the course of their career, SOJA has released several albums including “Peace in a Time of War” and “Strength to Survive”, both of which were nominated for Grammy Awards. They have collaborated with a wide range of artists including Damian Marley, Michael Franti, and Rebelution, and have toured extensively across the globe, spreading their message of love, unity, and social justice. Consistently redefining the boundaries of the reggae genre, SOJA remains a powerful voice for positive change in the world.
