Van Halen was a hard rock band formed in Pasadena, California in 1972. Led by guitarist Eddie Van Halen, the band released their debut album in 1978 which featured their hit single, “Runnin’ with the Devil”. The group’s sound was a unique blend of Eddie’s virtuosic guitar playing and the powerful vocals of David Lee Roth. The band experienced numerous lineup changes, with Sammy Hagar taking over lead singer duties in the mid-1980s. Their biggest commercial success was the album “1984”, which included the hit songs “Jump” and “Panama”. After Hagar left the band in the 1990s, Gary Cherone briefly joined as lead singer before the band went on hiatus. They reunited in 2007 with Roth back in the fold for a successful tour, but Eddie’s health issues led to the band’s official retirement in 2020. Despite their struggles and setbacks, Van Halen remains one of the most influential and beloved hard rock bands of all time.
