Vance Joy, born James Gabriel Keogh in Melbourne, Australia in 1987, is a singer-songwriter known for his indie folk sound. He released his debut EP, God Loves You When You’re Dancing, in 2013, featuring the hit single “Riptide” which became a number one hit in Australia and charted internationally. He followed up with his debut album, Dream Your Life Away, in 2014. Joy’s music has garnered critical acclaim and he has toured with artists such as Taylor Swift and played at major festivals. He also received ARIA and APRA Awards in Australia for his work. Joy’s music often explores themes of love, vulnerability, and self-discovery, and he continues to release new music and tour internationally.
