"03 Bonnie & Clyde" is a hit song by American rapper Jay-Z and singer Beyoncé Knowles released on October 10, 2002. It was written by Jay-Z himself alongside Kanye West, Prince, Tupac Shakur, Darryl Harper, Ricky Rouse and Tyrone Wrice for Jay-Z's seventh studio album, The Blueprint 2: The Gift & the Curse (2002). Sampled from American rapper Tupac Shakur's 1996 single "Me and My Girlfriend," it was inspired by the 1967 crime movie reunion of the legendary outlaw couple Bonnie Parker & Clyde Barrow, paraphrasing its chorus. Instrumentation based on programmed drums, bass instruments and flamenco guitar creates a seductive atmosphere that fits well with the postmodern sentimentality and production values include electric organ and synthesizer sounds - released as the album's lead single on October 10, 2002. With snapshot-style visuals created using home video cameras directed by Hype Williams, it gives the voyeuristic feel of surveillance camera footage; it was nominated twice for the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards.
