Stevie Wonder, the legendary American singer-songwriter, has had a tremendous influence on a range of genres, including R&B, pop, soul, gospel, funk and jazz. His innovative use of synthesizers and electronic instruments in the 1970s set a new standard in R&B. Blind from birth, he began his career as a child prodigy and was signed to Motown's Tamla label at the age of 11.

"A Place in the Sun" is a timeless soul hit by American musician and Motown member Stevie Wonder. Released in 1966, the song was written by Ronald Miller and Bryan Wells, and was one of the first Wonder songs to contain social commentary. The song reached number nine on the Billboard Pop chart and number three on the R&B chart. Billboard described it as a "folk version" to which Wonder gave an "exciting treatment." The Originals and The Andantes sang background vocals on the recording. The song highlights the powerful message of wanting equality and justice for all. Stevie Wonder also recorded an Italian version of the song "Il Sole è di Tutti".
