- The song tells the story of a Royal Air Force fighter pilot fighting the Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain in 1940, the first battle fought entirely in the air.
- It reached number 20 in the British charts.
- The song is one of the band's most popular, and was released as a single before the album.
- The song is preceded in concert by an excerpt from a speech by Winston Churchill delivered in the House of Commons on June 4, 1940 :
- The song has been covered by several artists, including Reinxeed, Children of Bodom, Arch Enemy and Mr. White Solo.
