- It was covered by Mariah Carey twice, in 1999 (on her album Rainbow) and in 2000 with the band Westlife, whose version reached number 1 in the UK and Ireland.
- In 2005, Steve Brookstein, winner of the UK's The X Factor, released a cover of the song as his first single, which also reached #1 in the UK.
- Other artists who have covered the song include Dalida (as "Toutes ces heures loin de toi", with French lyrics written by Didier Barbelivien), The Postal Service, Bonnie Tyler and Barry Manilow.
- The Phil Collins Big Band released an instrumental version of the song on their 1999 album A Hot Night In Paris.
- The song was also covered by Elizabeth Gillies in the 2019 musical episode of the television series Dynasty.
