Taylor Swift's song All Too Well was written and composed by Taylor Swift and Liz Rose, and produced by Nathan Chapman. It was released on November 4, 2012 on the album Red. The song was inspired by Swift's romantic relationship with an older man, Jake Gyllenhaal, whom Swift dated for a few months in 2011.

The song begins softly with strings and the vocals of Swift, who sings nostalgic lyrics about the good times she had with her ex-boyfriend. The lyrics reflect Swift's pain and confusion after their relationship ended. The song takes a more energetic turn in the middle, with electric instruments and Swift's vocals ramping up. At the end, the song returns to its original tempo, with Swift singing the song's final lyrics wistfully.

All Too Well received acclaim from music critics, who praised the song's composition and production, as well as Swift's vocal performance. The song was listed as one of the best songs of 2012 by several publications, and was named the best song from the album Red by several critics. The song was also a commercial success, reaching the top ten in several countries, including the United States and Canada.
