The protagonist is writing a letter to his partner Lily from the beach where he is living. He has a disco outside his window and he loves the atmosphere, but he feels like the good times are taking a toll on him. He has a picture of Lily on his dashboard and wishes she would move to the city because he feels like the lights in his current town don't brighten anything up. He says people say love is all you need but everything inside him is warning him about danger. He played on Lily's sympathy because he's been hurt by love before and he's done some foolish things because of it. He doesn't mind spending time with Lily and they act like they only need love, but he still feels like there's danger in it. He's been hurt before and he's made some foolish decisions.
