The singer is looking for his love, who confessed his love before disappearing. He has been all over the country looking for her: Mercer Street in Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, the Bronx, Staten Island, New Jersey and Long Island. Calling her name in desperation, he hopes someone has seen her around. He imagines her face and voice, but knows she is lost in the crowd.

The Rolling Stones - Short Biography

The Rolling Stones are an iconic English rock band formed in London in 1962, and are widely regarded as one of the most popular and enduring bands of the rock era. They pioneered the gritty, rhythmic sound that defined hard rock, with their first stable lineup including singer Mick Jagger, multi-instrumentalist Brian Jones, guitarist Keith Richards, bassist Bill Wyman and drummer Charlie Watts. After Andrew Loog Oldham became their manager in 1963, Jagger and Richards became the band's main creative force.
