The Beach Boys - Short Biography

The Beach Boys are an American rock band that formed in 1961 in Hawthorne, California. The original lineup consisted of brothers Brian, Dennis and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love and their friend Al Jardine. The band is known for its vocal harmonies, teenage-themed lyrics and musical ingenuity. They are one of the most influential bands of the rock era, and one of the few American rock bands to have maintained its commercial position during the British Invasion. From the beginning, Brian Wilson was the band's composer, arranger, producer and de facto leader.

"Barbara Ann" is a rock and roll song written by Fred Fassert. It was first recorded by The Regents in 1961 as "Barbara-Ann" and peaked at #13 on the Billboard Hot 100; however, the most famous version of the song was recorded by The Beach Boys for their 1965 live in-house album "Beach Boys' Party! Later that year, in December, "Barbara Ann" was released as a single with the B-side "Girl Don't Tell Me", reaching #2 in the U.S. and #3 in the U.K. Interestingly, the original version of The Regent was featured in the 1973 film "American Graffiti" and was later included on the soundtrack album.
