The protagonist has been sailing for almost twenty years and has learned to deal with difficult times. They see all oceans as a home and have never feared any kind of storm. However, they receive a letter from their son who wants to follow in their footsteps and a strong longing to be at home in the north of Sweden overtakes them. The protagonist cannot bear to be away from their loved ones any longer and decides to return home.
