The protagonist sometimes goes days without thinking about his partner and wonders why he's still traveling down the same road to the pier where they used to go. He sees a couple that reminds him of his partner and himself, and it hurts him to hear their sweet nothings. He considers warning them about the pain of heartbreak, but realizes they have to figure it out on their own. The protagonist reminisces about the walls they had on the pier and how he now cries alone at the end of it, drinking and throwing bottles across the bay, while a part of him hopes that his partner might be signaling to him from the other side.
