"Blank Generation" is a song by Richard Hell and the Voidoids from their 1977 album. It is a rewrite of an old song called "The Beat Generation". Richard wrote the new lyrics while he was in another band, The Heartbreakers, and Malcolm McLaren said that the Sex Pistols' song "Pretty Vacant" was inspired by "Blank Generation".
