- Carl Lee Perkins was an American rockabilly singer, guitarist and songwriter.

- He is best known for songs like "Blue Suede Shoes," "Honey Don't," "Matchbox" and "Everybody's Trying to Be My Baby."

- Perkins began his recording career at Sun Studio in Memphis in 1954.

- His songs have been recorded by artists such as Elvis Presley, the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and Johnny Cash.

- Perkins has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Rockabilly Hall of Fame, the Memphis Music Hall of Fame and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
