The protagonist is sitting by the ocean feeling sad because she doesn't have enough money to go back to Trinidad. She is a fine calypso woman who has cooked shrimp and rice for her partner, but the hot dogs in America don't sit well with her. Her partner's pocket is empty and he's feeling down because the American girls are not treating him well. They both wish they could go back home where a dollar can buy them plenty of food and drink.
