He walks alone in the gray drizzle, pretending that his life was always here, but he longs for the color that the river never gave. He sings to Carito, telling her to let go of her sadness so her tears can become diamonds and her stone can fly like a bird in the spring. He compares Buenos Aires to a fashionable shoe that doesn't shine like it does in a small town square. He wants Carito's little light to speak secretly to his song, to illuminate her with a little more sun. He tells her that any seed, when it becomes a plant, wants to see the same star from that evening sunset that saved it from the sharp beak of the destructive seagull. He offers to be her friend and a tree for her nest. He tells her to release her song, as the accordion in his hands is waiting for it.
