- "Chop Suey!" is the first single from the second album Toxicity by Armenian-American heavy metal band System of a Down.
- The single was released in August 2001 and earned the band their first Grammy Award nomination in 2002 for Best Metal Performance.
- "Chop Suey!" is often considered the band's signature song.
- Daron Malakian explained in an interview that the song is about how we are viewed differently depending on how we pass.
- The lyrics for the middle section ("Father into your hands I commend my spirit") were randomly chosen by Serj Tankian from Rick Rubin's book collection, after Tankian had trouble coming up with ideas.
- Although it was not revealed from which book the line was taken, it originated in the Bible, appearing in Luke 23:46.
- The song was originally titled "Suicide", but Columbia Records forced the band to change it to avoid any controversy.
- The title of the song is therefore a play on words: "Suey" is "suicide", "cut" in two.
