- The Crystals are an American vocal group from New York City.
- They are considered one of the most important groups of the girl group era of the first half of the 1960s.
- Their big hits, produced by Phil Spector, include "There's No Other," "Uptown," "He's Sure the Boy I Love," "He's a Rebel," "Da Doo Ron Ron" and "Then He Kissed Me."
- Three of these songs originally made Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest songs of all time.
- "Da Doo Ron Ron" was reintroduced to the 2021 list at number 366.

The song Da Doo Ron Ron was written in 1963 by Jeff Barry, Ellie Greenwich and Phil Spector. It was recorded by the girl group The Crystals and reached number two on the US charts. The song tells the story of a girl who falls in love with a boy named Johnny. She meets him in a bar and they spend the night together. The next day he disappears and she never sees him again.

The song was popularized by the movie La Boum, released in 1980. In the scene where the song is played, the protagonist, vic, is abandoned by her boyfriend at the prom. This scene was repeated in the movie Clueless in 1995.
