The protagonist and his partner have drifted apart and she is now with his best friend, which hurts him but he tries to be understanding. They both want to separate amicably and not make their friends choose sides. She asked him to write her a song to show how much he loves her, so he did, but the song is actually calling her a "damn whore" and telling her that the song he wrote is all hers to show off to her friends. Despite their breakup, the protagonist believes they still have something in common - their dislike for everyone else in the city.
