Johnny Cash - Short Biography

John R. Cash was a famous American country singer-songwriter who often incorporated themes such as heartbreak, moral tribulation, and redemption into his music. Known for his deep, calm bass-baritone voice and his band Tennessee Three who accompanied him with frenzied guitar rhythms, Cash was a dynamic performer who stood out for his all-black stage attire, which earned him the nickname of "the man in black".

"Folsom Prison Blues" is a song written by American singer-songwriter Johnny Cash in 1953. It was first recorded in 1955 for his first studio album "Johnny Cash with His Hot and Blue Guitar" and became one of his signature songs. The song combines elements of two popular folk styles - the train song and the prison song - which Cash continued to use throughout his career. Cash drew heavily on the song "Crescent City Blues" by Gordon Jenkins.
