"For All We Know" is a beautiful soft rock ballad written for the 1970 film "Lovers and Other Strangers". The music was composed by Fred Karlin, the lyrics by Robb Wilson and Arthur James. The song was originally performed by Larry Meredith for the film's soundtrack. However, it was the version by the American pop duo The Carpenters that gained the most popularity, reaching number three on the Billboard Hot 100 and number one on the Billboard Easy Listening in 1971. It's worth mentioning that Royer and Griffin, two founding members of the soft rock band Bread, also contributed to the song. The song also became a hit for Shirley Bassey at the same time in the UK. Over the years, "For All We Know" has been covered by various artists, including Petula Clark. Its touching lyrics and sweet melody make it a classic love song.
