Written by Jeffrey Cohen and Narada Michael Walden, and produced by the latter, the song was released on Franklin's thirtieth studio album, "Who's Zoomin' Who?" in 1985. The song features a notable contribution from Clarence Clemons, the saxophonist in Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, who brings his skills to make the song truly pop. In addition, Sylvester, Martha Wash and Jeanie Tracy provided backing vocals to propel "Freeway of Love" to new heights.
