James Blunt - Short Biography

- James Blunt is an English singer, songwriter and musician.
- He was a reconnaissance officer in the British Army, serving under NATO during the Kosovo War in 1999.
- In 2004, he released his debut album Back to Bedlam, gaining worldwide fame with the singles "You're Beautiful" and "Goodbye My Lover".
- The album was certified 4x platinum in the UK and 2x platinum in the US.
- Since then, he has released five more albums, all of which have reached the UK Top 10.

- "Goodbye My Lover" is a song by English singer-songwriter James Blunt, written by Blunt and British songwriter Sacha Skarbek, for Blunt's debut album Back to Bedlam (2004).
- The song was produced by Tom Rothrock and Jimmy Hogarth and recorded in the home of actress Carrie Fisher.
- "Goodbye My Lover" was released as the fourth single in November 2005 and reached the top 10 in the UK, where it became Blunt's second top 10 single.
- It also reached the top 10 in Sweden, Belgium, Australia and France.
- In the U.S., "Goodbye My Lover" reached No. 66 on the Billboard Hot 100 through digital downloads, even though the single had not yet been released in the U.S.
- The song was officially released in the United States on November 7, 2006.
- While in Los Angeles, Blunt stayed at the home of Carrie Fisher, whom he had met through the family of a former girlfriend.
- Fisher supported Blunt's aspirations and offered him the use of a bathroom in her home, complete with a piano, so he could record "Goodbye My Lover."
- The single was released in three physical formats. CD1 includes an exclusive unrecorded recording, "Close Your Eyes," which was written while Blunt was in the military.
